Without a doubt, this is an academically rigorous school. Teachers will push you to your limits, and students are incredibly competitive and driven. This is a school of nerds! However, this "nerd" community is also incredibly passionate about a wide variety of subjects, and are always willing to share and educate their peers.
Some people might call west-side hard or competitive, but I think there is no better highschool in Indiana that could better prepare you for college. Yes, you will be challenged often (which is usually out of people's comfort zones) but it's what you need to become successful once you get to college. For the most part, it's a very no-drama straight-to-the-point school. I found it to be an amazing environment for students like me who aren't interested in unnecessary incidents that serve as a good short-term source of gossip. There really is little to no negative comments I could make about west-side. I wouldn't change a thing.
I have attended excellent schools in other districts such as Carmel, Indiana and my experience at West Lafayette is unparalleled. I feel completely prepared for college and I've thoroughly enjoyed my academic, club, and athletic experiences at West Side. RDP!
