West was never the perfect school, I had a lot of bad times at that school. Especially during the first few years. But my junior and senior year were some of the best times in my life that I will never forget. I met so many great friends there that I still hang out with today. And I graduated in spring of 2017. My wood-shop class was my absolute favorite class and most of the good memories that I have were made in that classroom. I also had some amazing teachers like my pottery teacher Ms. Wright. Even teachers that I never had were always so caring and thoughtful towards me. We also had a great lady who prepared me for college so well. I had no idea what I was doing before she helped me out with my fafsa and applying for schools!

As urban as it gets in Kansas but excellent staff and programs. Choice of academy and focus for Fine Arts, Health, Engineering, or Business. Fine Arts graphics, film, and painting are excellent! Very superior instructors with connections in the community. Sports are very competitive with qualified coaches. Supportive teachers who care about student success.
Currently the principal of West High is more concerned with being on the top of the ranks of schools in Wichita, rather than making sure the students are provided with the necessities and making sure the staff there are good teachers. Us students aren't allowed to use the bathroom during class without having a consequence attached to it. Every single senior meeting we have, all he talks about is where we are on the rank sheet of high schools in Wichita. His focus isn't on the kids at all. He's focused on being the top school and it's sickening. And there are teachers and staff who are straight weirdos. There's a teacher there who stares at the female students and ridicules them for their clothing all the time and he literally flirts with students all the time.
