The bathrooms are disgusting. Writing on the stall doors (if they're even attached or have working locks) are riddled with notes of teenagers expressing their desires to die or bulling others. The bulling program itself misses the mark terribly. The overall message conveys a patronizing tone and it's insulting how they refuse to talk about how bullying here often takes form via bigotry. Some kids from the LGBTQ+ community there don't feel safe, especially the trans kids who just want to use the bathrooms. The IB Program is great! But as someone who's been in IB, AP, and lower level classes, the fact that most kids in the IB classes are white, well off, and get better school equipment and teachers, i'm saddened by the gap created by wealth, race, and overall privilege. Food is gross, but credit where credit is due, they changed the pizza this year so that it tastes less like plastic. I can say that the Spirit Bowl at West High is one of the best parts of going to this school.

West High School is a very spirited high school! Students are pushed constantly to succeed through rigorous courses like IB, AP, and our other programs. Gear Up and AVID feels more like a family and they constantly check up on you and your goals. The counselors at West prove that you can always go above and beyond. Athletes at West high are very dedicated individuals and the student section is almost always full and especially loud. Student government makes sure to have all students involved in student activities. The students of West high are always willing to help each other out we have our annual fundraiser of 10,000 and this year we raised 26,000 for our family resource center. Amazing school with tons of diversity!
One of the key things I love about West High School is that it is one of the most culturally and racially diverse Schools in the state of Utah. It is also located near the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, making a variety of activities possible and letting students experience a city life unparalleled by any other high school in Utah. This School also fulfilled my academic needs with it being one of the 4 Utah schools which boasts the International Baccalaureate Program, which got me into UC Irvine and many of my friends into top-tier Ivy League Schools. I would Super-Senior Here if I could!
