I loved that West High was a safe environment and a great place to learn. I not only feel prepared for college but I also got to learn many things I personally found interesting like Spanish and dance class! If I could improve one thing about west high I would give more of a voice to the arts departments. With little funding and limited teachers, sometimes it was hard to accomplish all of our goals. Overall West High is a great school with excellent teachers who truly do care for their students.

I love this school. I have Autism and have always had great help when I needed it. There are kids of all types from everywhere and everyone gets along pretty well. There is some bullying for the most part it gets handled. I do wish we had better support for STEM, only one astronomy and physics teacher and not a lot of support there but he is awesome. A bit over done on the sports but it is North Carolina. The school counselors and secretary are super sweet. The food is lousy like most schools because budget isn't spent to help the lunch staff out but the staff is nice, not their fault at all! The only parents involved are the ones who want to take over and over donate so that is kind of typical. But West is one of the best if your moving here for sure.
As a student who takes advanced classes, I've generally had good teachers and learning experiences at West. I've loved most of my classes and feel I've gotten at least a decent education in almost all of them. However, West definitely has its fair share of awful teachers — some of whom even teach AP. The campus has a nice layout that is fairly modern. People claim to see roaches inside but I never have. My biggest complaint about the building is the state of the bathrooms: they're usually missing locks and the boy's bathroom is known to have no soap dispensers because people keep tearing them off the walls. Otherwise, the atmosphere is pretty good. There are big turnouts for sports games.
