A high school filled with the rollercoasters of emotions that anyone should at this rate sign a contract warning the students of what to come. Everyone predicts the day to day experiences. "There will be a fight at this football game" , "this teacher will be fired for her saying of the N word" ..... more and more rumors that honestly have a high rate of becoming true yet some surpass the reality and is left to debate. It is a high suspense school, yet it is shaped to expect the suspense, which is mostly the reason there is calmness when the storm enters the school. Believe me the school has it's benefits like it makes sure there are prayer spaces for students with belief, the problem mostly resents in half of the school staff and most of the students, so I could say you could lay half the blame on the school system, and that's where the mixed emotions come from, you just don't know what to expect.
Throughout my years at West Genesee, there have been some ups and downs. However, overall, I have enjoyed my time at the school. Some of the courses offered are really enjoyable, specifically engineering, other STEM, and business - a lot of options. Guidance counselors and teachers are nearly always willing to help out with questions and stay after for Interaction Time to discuss any difficulties. Not too many AP's offered which is unfortunate and extracurriculars are slightly underdeveloped. However, if you look for opportunities you will find them. It is also fairly simple to set up clubs and extracurriculars if they do not currently exist.
Overall the school system is very good to excellent. Teachers and staff at West Genesee are friendly, helpful and passionate about the pupils. The school district offers a lot extra help if needed and has clubs for the students to be involved in if they want to be. It's clean, well maintained and pretty safe. The sports teams and coaches are very good and have a fairly successful season year to year. We've had a few bumps in the road with our transportation department in 2019 and also our administration department. Hopefully, all the issues have been resolved for our last year at the high school. I believe all schools have good years and bad!
