I have throughly enjoyed my time at West Florence High School and I am happy it is a place I will always be able to call home. Overall, the school runs pretty smoothly. However, there are definitely a few safety concerns. There are many easy entrances to the building. Anybody could come in if they wanted to. They are working to improve this by adding morning metal detectors and additional safety patrol. The new administrators have certainly played a role in these improvements. They are fantastic! Great School!

West Florence has been going through some changes this year, my senior year. At the beginning of this year, I had a disagreement with a friend of mine. His friends got involved and started bullying me at school. I didn't know if it was connected to our disagreement, but some students began throwing food at us during lunch. My Mom went to the school and spoke with an Administrator who said "well, we can't police the cafeteria". Finally, a group of some seniors went to the students who were doing it and demanded for it to stop and it finally did. My Mom and I complained about a teacher in 10th grade who was rude to my Mom in emails. Our school is old and dirty, falling down. We need a new school! We have had a principal fired and now have a new one. Hopefully, he can make a difference!
I loved my time at West Florence, although it may not be the most up to date school, facilities wise, I made some of the best friends, memories, and relationships there. I was enrolled in honors and GT classes and had some of the best teachers. I was very involved in sports at West and the sports program was improving greatly my senior year and so much has been changing with all the new staff. I do think a lot could still be done to improve the school. It is old and rundown and could use some renovations. Stricter and tougher academics could really improve students' performances and readiness for college. The continued growth and improvement of the staff and school as a whole will greatly affect our community and school ratings. That school will always be very special to me. Once a knight, always a knight.
