My experience at West Ashley High School was great.Amazing leadership under Principal Runyon. The teachers are helpful and patient . They put their all efforts into their students and its commendable. The teachers stay after school a bit longer just to help their students. West Ashley High teachers are they BEST!

I would say that West Ashley High School is a lower quality school, however one would probably find the honors and AP courses acceptable. There are a few problems with guidance, and constant scheduling issues. The food isn't the worst, but it is bad enough to make quite a few students skip out on it due to "not trusting it." There are a few bad teachers, but there are also a few good ones. Lack of classes is somewhat an issue, although next year there should be a new building for CTE classes, so there is a decent chance that that department will flourish.
At West Ashley there are many things that are good. There are a handful of good teachers, who put their all into students. There are some amazing classes that can have you ready for college or the career field, but then there are somethings that are not so well. Some teachers don't care what students do and just let the class do whatever. Some teachers don't even teach. So that one reason trumps all of the smaller things that aren't good either. We always say that we need to change the culture here, but only a select group of people are trying to change it. You need 100% of the population to be on the same page for a culture change. If not then we will stay average until we do.
