Wellington High School Reviews
Rating 3.53 out of 5 68 reviews
Wellington High School is a pretty average high school. There is more good than bad teachers, a good amount of clubs/activities, and a positive atmosphere. Some things need to be worked on; for example, I wish I was more prepared for college. I am a senior, and I feel like I am barely prepared.
I have enjoyed Wellington High School mostly because the community. The small town always huddles around the highschool and all of its activities and shows overwhelming support. There are also quite a few activities to be a part of. I found myself in Choir, Select Group Choir, Drama and Football. There are many more groups that I wasn't a part of such as Bussiness Professionals of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions and National Honor Society. One thing I would change is the decor. The teachers are also great, I feel like every teacher is passionate and truly care about teaching. It is also super convinient to have the Cowley County Community College extension right by the high school, allowing us to take dual credit college courses. There isn't much spirit, just bland walls unless the cheerleaders put a poster up. A huge mural or a statue somewhere would look super cool.
Wellington High School has been about an average experience for me. There are many clubs and activities that are open to all students that you can participate in throughout the year. In a year, I only witnessed one physical fight, but quite a few emotional ones between students. The teachers are great, there are only about a few bad apples. The performing arts program is amazing, but not recognized enough by the school or administration. Sports teams are ok, but are very overrated by the entire school. There are school trip opportunists. School cliques aren't a terrible problem, but exist past a point they should.
