As a Mepham senior, I can tell you I've had a very good experience here. I have always felt safe at mepham, even during the coronavirus pandemic, and the majority of the staff is helpful and friendly (especially the science department). I have had pleasant experiences with most of the teachers here and have made great connections with some! There is a wide variety of clubs & activities so it is easy for anyone to find their people. In addition we have a lot of fun school events that all students attend like Mr. Mepham, Battle of the Classes, football/sporting events in general and more. The one downside is that like many other Long Island schools, Mepham is not very diverse but perhaps that will change because our community is always growing. Also, this school offers many AP and dual enrollment courses providing better opportunities for college. Lastly, the school has lots of school spirit as well which makes it a very fun environment!
Mepham is a great place to grow up and find where you belong. Some of my favorite, most memorable memories took place at Mepham. I loved going to football and soccer games, as well as school events like Battle of the Classes and So They Think They Can Dance. This is a great, close-knit community to be a part of, but it is important to stay involved- otherwise, you may not get the full Mepham experience. This school is not extremely diverse, however, Mepham is growing the community and is a very accepting and comfortable atmosphere. We host Culture Nights and run several clubs that benefit the community. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to fully experience Mepham High School!
As a senior at Wellington C. Mepham High School I would consider this school to be overall a great school. I've always felt safe here. The school always adapts to new environments and conditions to ensure the safety of the students, which I have witnessed the 4 years I have been here. There are unarmed security guards at entrances of the school and always have to show your school ID when you come in. When COVID-19 came around, the school implemented plexiglass dividers and mandated mask wearing, offering online school to some kids who felt unsafe leaving the house still, needing to fill a survey before coming into the school and having your temperature taken at the door. The school also provides a variety of AP and Dual enrollment courses for students to increase the rigor of the coursework. The athletics are excellent. The kickline team won the NDA championship right before covid and made it nationals many times and the football team making it to playoffs multiple times.
