Weddington High School Reviews
Rating 4.08 out of 5 410 reviews
The four years I've spent at Weddington High School have been exciting, rewarding, inspiring, and fulfilling. The school environment is inviting and safe, which has become one of my greatest priorities over the past few years. I have found teachers that actively motivate me to improve and friends that allow me to be the best version of myself. Like many big schools, however, it is easy to feel small or unseen, especially in social contexts. I feel that Weddington could improve by integrating more team-building and social activities/events into the extracurricular schedule to build a closer bond between all types of students. From here, students can be more eager to attend school, allowing them to perform better academically, socially, and mentally.
I really like Weddington High School because of everything we can do outside of the classroom to create a community and connect with our school. Sports, community events, and the large amounts of clubs allow students to create a culture of Weddington when they aren't in school. One thing I would like to see change about WHS is more inclusivity for new students and freshman entering the building. Although these new students have small things such as orientation, I think the school could do a better job helping new students make the full transition into being a part of this amazing Weddington culture that we have.
I wish the overall school environment was more accepting. The school is not very diverse and it’s common to overhear bigotry. It’s also easy to fall into cliques, and there can be a lot of drama. Most of the teachers are good, especially for AP classes, but many are not good and unfortunately many students struggle but nothing changes. There are many activities to get involved in, and I have met many amazing, loving, interesting people. I think sports and clubs are the best way to make friends and locate people you get along with. The theatre program is amazing and my favorite part of the school.
