Wayzata West Middle School Reviews

Not very many teachers are available before/after school on a normal basis, but if you request to see them before/after school they'll find a time that works for both of your schedules. Teachers communicate effectively and teach lessons you don't just "forget" after the test. Students know their teachers genuinely care, because teachers show genuine interest. Grading was always consistent, and rubrics were always given ahead of time so you know how the teacher would be grading it. Notes were always written on said rubric so you can improve on the next homework/quiz/project/test

Students were nice to everyone, teachers were nice to everyone, never any physical violence, high school students come back to visit their old teachers, teachers are respectful of every aspect of students' life
All three Wayzata Middle Schools switched away from traditional grading (A thru F) in 2016. They now use a number system (1 thru 4) called Grading for Learning (aka Standards Based Grading) and has been a complete disaster. It was poorly rolled out by the school administration, leaving children and parents confused about how they are doing academically. This has completely marginalized highly motivated students that want to exceed in school. It does not reinforce the skills required to succeed in college or life in general. Everyone gets a trophy.
