Highschool for me was my get away from home, my safe space. Although I was always nagging about going to school, I loved it. Highschool allows you to get out of your comfort zone. Throughout your 4 years of Highschool I encourage everyone to join clubs and sports! Making friends isn’t easy but once you find the right group, stay with them and don’t let go. Enjoy your Highschool years, and have fun!
A fairly welcoming environment, but there is not a lot of individuality. They are very competitive and take their sports and their athletes very seriously. At the same time, the rest of the school is just seen as a number of students. There are not many resources for a student to feel as though their individual voice is being heard. The teachers do a better job of making sure the students are taken care of than the head administration does.
This school is diverse and provides several opportunities for students interested in all types of fields. Overall the teachers are inclusive and kind. An issue I do have is the few teachers that aren't as inclusive in regards to their treatment of lgbtq+ youth including but not limited to: constant misgendering and obvious dislike of lgbtq+ students. However, the support from those who do give it is abundant and warm and the local saga club is inclusive and welcoming. The school puts a focus on sports and fitness over the arts and it is very apparent as funding for art and music programs continues to dwindle resulting in much frustration for students and staff. Overall, the school it's self is a good place to go that provides a good level of academic support.
