The most impactful part of going to Waukee High School was that I had the opportunity to be a part of the APEX program, a career-focused education program that got national attention, especially from government officials, such as Governor Kim Reynolds, and Ivanka Trump. BY being a part of this program, specifically the Medical and Bioscience Research strand, I was able to gain insightful knowledge and experience into related careers, and work on projects for businesses that operate both locally and internationally
Throughout my time at Waukee High School, I have been given loads of opprotunities to become the person I am today. At Waukee, my teachers went out of their way to help me when I was struggling and would congratulate me when I was was doing well. I am a student involved in lots of different activities and I personally felt that I was able to balance my academics and out-of-school activities very easy; the teachers made balancing all of these activities very easy with great communication from activity to activity. The only thing I would change would be the relationship between athletics and arts(music, theatre, etc.). In my sophomore year of high school, I was involved in both varsity football and band/choir. I felt that I was not able to do both. The football coaches were not flexible with my rehearsals and the people on the team did not respect me doing band and choir at the same time at football.
