Wauconda High School is simply put, not good. The cliques at Wauconda are just like you see on TV and there is a lack of unique people here. Bullying isn't a big issue, but that doesn't mean that we don't see fights and grudges between people. Safety is a huge issue, with bomb threats, frequent fire alarms, and drug use at school all occurring within the past five years. We have also had mental health issues within our district In terms of academics, many teachers, especially AP teachers, are incapable of doing their jobs while also being disrespectful and snotty with their students. Our athletic department cares too much about our weak but popular football team. Our basketball and soccer programs are strong, but otherwise, we are a step behind the rest of our conference. Our theater program is very good, though. Also, our administration is downright awful. Nobody in the front office or guidance deserves their job, and they don't seem like they want to be here, either.

I liked that wauconda high school was a relatively small school. I also liked that they offered many AP classes to prepare for college and, although I didn’t use it, they also offered classes for students wanting to go into careers as mechanics and fire fighters. Another good thing about wauconda is that the class sizes are relatively small, so it is easy to interact with teachers. Small classes are smaller than others but overall it is an appropriate size. One thing that could be improved at wauconda high school is the preparation for the SAT. There was a practice exam every year until the real one is taken junior year and teaches are expected to do practice problems, but more could of been done to prepare.
I am currently a senior at Wauconda High School. Most of the teachers I've had have been great at their jobs, with the exception of a few. However, teachers rarely last more than three years, and often leave for other jobs. Wauconda High School is relatively small, with my class having just under 1,000 students. Unfortunately, every year I've attended Wauconda, there has been at least one instance where student's safety was in danger. Some of the more notable situations were an evacuation due to a bomb threat, and a fire in the girl's locker room (many students had their belongings confiscated and/or were burned). Last year, we had many days off of school due to electrical issues that had not been resolved over the summer, leading us to be very behind in most of our classes. The same year, all of the water fountains were closed due to excessive amounts of lead in the water. However, I've made great friends and relationships and value these people in my life.
