The school staff is very involved when it comes to policies and bullying. When something is reported they are on top of it almost instantly, they definitely do not mess around when it comes to bullying and breaking school policies. Our principal does not let stuff slide at all, so don't think that you will get away with something cause you're not. The counselors are very helpful when it comes to needing advice or help with anything. The teachers seem pretty helpful when you ask but improvement wouldn't hurt. No short shorts, cutoffs, and slang on shirts is not tolerated but besides that everything else is pretty normal.
There isn't much to choose from, just sports and drama activities, like Oral Interp and One-Act Play. Although my school is very small, working hard at sports is important if you're involved in it. For me, my team and myself took volleyball quite seriously, but we also made sure that we had fun -- just no slacking off if you want to play. I thoroughly enjoyed my volleyball career (it ended for me at the beginning of November.) My coaches were amazing, helping in every way that they could. The community was also great, more people had come to the games this year. And the rest of the school of course was supportive, cheering my team on until the very end.
I actually ended up moving to Waubay in the 8th grade. And before then, I had had my fair share of school options. At first, it was a little hard to fit in -- you'll find that with small schools. Why? Small schools have this family aspect, where everyone knows each other and they truly do treat each other like family. But after a couple of months, I started to mesh in with the students, making friends. I also really liked the teachers. Not only do they treat you like they're a teacher, but they also bring in this aspect where they can easily become your friend. Plus, they will teach you everything really well. That's probably what I liked the best: the teachers.
