The teachers and staff in general are very wonderful people but it needs some changes regarding leadership. Many students feel this way.
Waterville Junior/Senior High is an average public school. Students can engage in an array of clubs such as French Club or Student Council.
Waterville Jr/Sr High School gives you a hometown feel while also receiving a good education! The teachers truly care about each student and although the school isn't very diverse, there's many other opprotunities it holds!
I believe that Waterville Junior/Senior High School is one of the best schools around. The school size is great. This gives every student a chance to feel what a big class of 20 or more students is like, and also what a small class size of 10 or less is like. Waterville also offers many distant learning classes. A lot of schools in this area are not fortunate enough to experience those classes. I believe that Waterville needs to change their approach at education as students get in higher levels. There are many students going into a trade such as welding or culinary these students do not need to focus highly on math and sciences but that is what those students are offered. There is also no in-between when it comes to English. There is either normal English 12 or AP English. Waterville has a good set up but could use a better approach.
Waterville has a great safety system to help prevent anything from happening to the students. There is a 24/7 security officer at our school, who monitors the halls. There is also a 24/7 school nurse on-hand, who takes care of the students very well. She keeps medical supplies always on hand in her office room. This verifies to the students that they will be taken care of. I really think our school is very safe, because of all the help from the staff to keep the school safe, and from the students who never really do anything to put themselves in danger.
I love school for so many reasons. But my favorite experience is what would make me want to do it all over again. My favorite experiences are when the teachers would incorporate their topics in fun, educational ways. My Spanish teacher always did a really exciting, learning activity in order to remember vocab words. Projects were also for the most part fun to plan and do, and that's why classes were so educational. I would definitely go back to school again, to redo some of those classes, and experience the exciting education we received.
I believe that we have the best teachers and the best school. They actually care about their students, and they strive to help them when they're in need. Teachers never turn down an opportunity to help the students. The teachers at Waterville not only teach us the curriculum, but they also make it fun. They incorporate games or activities, that help the students to better understand the topics. Most all of our teachers grade the same way: fairly and consistently.
There are not really any big safety issues. Fire drills and lock-down drills are often practiced in case of emergencies, but not used for any other reasons. Bullying is minimum to none, and the school is very strict with rules so students are well behaved for the most part.
Like many schools, what you put into the extra-curricular activities is what you'll get out of them at Waterville. Our music department is strong, frequently winning trophies at competitions and going on amazing trips to perform out of state. This past summer we went to Florida and performed at Disney World in a parade. We've gone to Washington D.C. and performed in the Independence Day parade, a few years back we went to Ohio and performed the national anthem at a major league baseball game. On top of that, we have a multitude of other clubs including the Outdoors club (who recently went on a week long camping trip to New Jersey) and the Student council that is a part of the NYS CLSA Leadership conference and travels to different cities in New York to meet new people and get new ideas to implement into the school. These are only a few examples of how Waterville's extra-curricular programs can be extraordinary.
The teachers at Waterville is what makes the school stand out. They are truly one of a kind and are always there to help someone in need whether academically, or with personal troubles. They are very approachable and kind, and full of knowledge about education and the outside world. Graduating Waterville I can honestly say that the teachers will be the things that I will miss the most.
The teachers, curriculum, and scheduling process is good. The workload is manageable, studying methods and classes.
I believe the security of my school is really good, but the bully is taken care of, but i think more could be done. Such as the punishments of the bullies, but overall the health and security is good.
At are school there"s a lot of different sports and clubs you can do. Such as basketball, football, soccer, and for clubs there's outdoors club, art club, ski club etc.
When I came to this school I was so surprised of how good the art program was and If I was in need of help I would be able to get it from my teachers. The teachers were always there to help you and there to encourage the students.
less than helpful guidance counselors, great teachers. ridiculous dress code
The teachers at this school tend to have a very easy grading system. It isn't very hard to get good grades in most classes. I feel that many times I did not deserve my high grades. I felt unprepared for many college courses.
