Watershed School Reviews

This is my second year as a parent of a middle schooler at Watershed. I feel so lucky that my child attends Watershed because his teachers know him and appreciate him for the awesome kid that he is! They have brought out intellectual growth, help him engage with real-world issues, and push him to improve in areas that are right for him. This is all done in a loving and warm environment. My opinion is that the mark of a truly great education is not in the “pedigree cultivation,” the test scores of the kids getting in, or the price tag; it is in how the kids grow in their time there. That is the true purpose of education: to ignite interest and passions in our kids, to nurture them and help them grow, to help them learn from challenges, to meet them where they are, and to guide them on their own paths. We have found all of this at Watershed and are so proud of the work we see our son doing.
We have three kids loving watershed now. It’s an unbelievable experience full of creativity and experiential education. They’re off to Costa Rica, Africa and pine ridge reservation to do community work this May. They go to Makers Fair, to South by Southwest and endless camping hiking and rafting trips. They sleep in tents, in churches, with host families or under the stars on these trips. The kids know how to communicate with adults and learn to present themselves to large groups speaking confidently and comfortably to communities and peers. They study environmental and social issues. They study Politics and poetry. This is and awesome school. I cannot say enough about our love for Watershed. FIVE STARS.
Watershed is a great school with good experiential learning. Lots of trips in and out of country to get real hands on learning. Teachers are engaging and care about the students.
I really love my school, my teachers are amazing. My classes are really great and engaging and I love being able to travel as much as I do. We travel outside of the country once a year, I’ve been to Peru, Guatemala and will be going to China later this year. We also travel locally and out of state in our regular classes. We have one three hour class every day that combines the disciplines of science and humanities.
I feel lucky to be a parent of a Watershed student. As one of only a handful of expeditionary learning high schools in the country, Watershed is paving the way for the future of education. My daughter is receiving a hands on, real world education that is both meaningful and practical!! Watershed has also taken m daughter around the world to learn...literally!! She has travelled with her class to Peru, Guatemala and this year is going to China! We are very grateful to be part of the Watershed community!
