Washingtonville High School provides a very student-oriented environment. Staff and teachers are extremely friendly and helpful. Additionally, many teachers have been in the school district for many years and have plentiful experience when helping out students. For those interested in music and arts, Washingtonville is an ideal place, providing all the technology and direction needed for a student to be successful. One thing that could improve in Washingtonville High School is if they could eventually provide more upper level courses for students to expand their learning even further. I would also like to see Washingtonville put more emphasis on college and future preparedness, as there are many capable students who lack guidance on what to pursue after high school and advise on how to manage the next phase of their lives.
I practically grew up in the school, and the faculty and staff really helped make it feel like home when I was there. However, not every school can be perfect. Through tough time with other students, the school had some difficulty helping my sister through that time. Although, they were more than helpful when it came to family matters and doing whatever necessary for myself and my family. In terms of academics, there were a few teachers whom I felt were not mature enough to be in the positions that they held -- either being too harsh on students or not taking their jobs serious. Athletics were good, however too much funding went into a bad football team while I was there. Many teams have been overlooked during the school's history and I hope that has since changed.
Washingtonville Senior High School contains some of the nicest teachers and staff that you will ever meet. Every adult in the building truly wants nothing more to see all their student's succeed, no other community has been as close-knit as this one. I'm truly gonna miss being here!
