Washburn was the ideal environment for me to grow in my passions, which were the arts and foreign language. I was able to complete my studies with four years of French classes, choir performances, and solo opportunities in the musicals and concerts. I was able to use the resources and education provided to travel abroad to study these things as well. Additionally, I built up excellent writing schools that made my assignments in college feel much easier. I am proud that Washburn was my neighborhood school!

Washburn is an all around, good place to be. We thrive in academics, arts, and athletics, and it can be easily noticed. We have varsity sports and fans that pack the stands consistently. The IB and AP programs offered are not taken lightly and the IB diploma is a special opportunity. Our student body is diverse and friendly - I meet a new person in every class, every year! I take special, biased pride in our arts program. The musical and black box theater programs are always involved in local politics and themes. I have loved my experience at Washburn and have a year left to enjoy more!
Washburn is great for many reasons. There are a good amount of higher level classes to take, most of my teachers have been good if not overworked, and our growth in recent years has allowed us more money, which has led to new classrooms, a new weight room, new track and football field, and an awesome auditorium. I also like the Tangletown neighborhood that surrounds us, and the neighbors are more or less welcoming. However, the growth is a blessing and a curse as halls are always jam-packed (like many other MPS schools which are reaching overload). The atmosphere of the school can be straight up depressing, especially towards mid-winter, when students taking higher level classes and their teachers are all overworked and under a lot of stress. Lastly, the set up for some of the new classrooms is bizarre, as some have no windows among other odd things. Overall though, my high school experience has been good: there is a lot to get involved in the games are fun. We are on the come up!
