Wasatch Academy is more than a private college preparatory boarding high school, we are a community where people of diverse cultures and nationalities live, study and play. Our students and staff are connected by their similarities and enriched by their differences.

We are an independent liberal arts boarding school for grades 8 - 12 and post-graduate year located in beautiful central Utah. Our 35 acre campus includes amazing new and historic academic and recreational facilities.

Wasatch Academy's individualized approach to our students' learning experience is creative and intensive. Wasatch Academy provokes mixed emotions. It came highly recommended by our education consultants. During recruiting, we were sold on the quality of the teachers and the setting as a place for our son to grow. The teachers are almost all exceptional. The college counseling is very thorough, but the academic rigor needed to excel in college is lacking. The administration ruins the experience. The transition from the retired, long-time leader to the new administration enabled some staff to impose their personal values in contradiction to what was promised by the school. There is a high degree of favoritism demonstrated by staff towards local day students. Wasatch coddles its high-profile basketball players at the expense of the other 90% of students. The food is typical cafeteria junk. I can say unequivocally that our family found Wasatch to be a colossal mistake, a profound waste of money, and a very bleak chapter in our lives. We really should have chosen another school.

My teenager is thriving at Wasatch Academy! The diverse educational opportunities, student population and small college campus feel are the main reasons he chose WA. I appreciate the teachers, the individual and group education, the college counselors, and the great Engineering Arts building with all of its hands-on learning.

The school has went downhill recently. The major problems with this school is the amount of drugs and illegal activities occurring that get brushed off. Along with this, the area around the school can generally be described as unsafe due to racism .The teachers are amazing. However, because there are no honors classes you have kids that are above average in a certain subject and learn at a faster pace, and then the people who need extra support in a subject. As a result the kids who excel in said subject often get neglected. There is a lot of support though; learning coaches, guidance counselors, advisors, teachers, and dorm staff. One thing to note is the relationships between staff and students can be a little unprofessional in the sense that staff will put their job second.
