My daughter is a High School Senior this year (c/o 2020). She has attended Walther Christian all 4 years, and the experience has been amazing. My husband and I never intended to send our daughter to a college prep/christian high school, however God saw differently. Amara definitely benefits from the smaller class sizes and one on one attention. She has excelled in all subjects and WE know that she has been well prepped for college. I would love to see Walther expand more such as swimming classes, drivers ed, indoor track, and also home economics. Overall the the staff is amazing and always there to assist both parents and students with any obstacles.

Academics are not good. Don't expect a learning environment here. You will not need to try very hard to get a good GPA. It makes people lazy, and then when they take hard classes it drops through the floor.
Extracurriculars are good. Sports aren't spectacular. Fine Arts are the best part of the school by far. The Roses have worked very hard to keep this going, and it pays off big time. If you come to Walther, do music or drama. The best part of being here. In my opinion what could make this school 10 times better is investing heavy into band, choir, and drama.
Teachers are very helpful and truly care about their students. It's the students, not the teachers. Need to make that clear. The majority of the student body is from not-so-nice neighborhoods. That's what permeates here hard. Drug use and alcoholism is pretty rampant outside of school, so you have to watch who you're around. Overall, not the worst place to be, but by far not the best.
If you were looking for a family-like school this the school for you. This environment is not school like but like having a second home. From it being a small school and knowing everyone and their names. Here I was able to open myself up to everyone because I would have some of the teachers for not only one class. So I grew a bond with some of the teachers. The best part is that if you're failing one of these classes the teachers will help you out on Wednesdays after school. Might not be the best school for sports but in one on one teaching might be one of the best schools. The teachers here try to make you feel like home and also the students. For the most part, everyone gets along and is welcoming. That's why I didn't mind coming to school every day. One because I had friends and activities to involve myself in and the good teachers.
