My experience at Walter M. Williams High School was something I really enjoyed. What I liked the most about my school was the fact that there were so many opportunities for me to find my passion and what I wanted to do long term. Another thing I liked about my high school was that they had a Free College Application Week because without that week, I probably would not have applied to any college as soon as I did because I was not really feeling motivated to apply for colleges that soon, and would most likely end up doing what most of my fellow graduates did and take a year off. Something I would like to change is more college readiness. My school did a good job at get me ready for college, but what I realized is that you'll never know how college work and life will be until you step on campus and start going to classes. Overall, my school was not the worst, but it was not the best neither. I made it the best experience I could, and that what matters to me.
My instructors where all very inclusive. As a minority, today's society feels unbalanced when speaking of education. However, Williams High has proven to me that instructors who care will make a difference, now I am 1 year away from completing my diploma and receiving my Radiology Tech license.
Williams Highschool has very strict guidelines when learning and some teachers don't teach subjects well but are expected to know either way. A great example is the subject "Math" in all my four years I only had one teacher that is cable of teaching me and learning. Most teachers will get mad at you for not knowing something well enough. Everyone in Williams most just between kids teaches each other to help those who are falling behind. The art department of our school is absolutely wonderful! All of the teachers are extremely talented and make sure you understand and will never leave one child behind.
