The experience was good. There is some amazing faculty who really want to help children succeed. However, due to its size there isn't really a close knit feel between many student platforms. As a member of varsity sports/societies/clubs there is a bond within clubs but this bond isn’t interchangeable through various activities. There are some groups of international students who find it hard to break through and join clubs/activities outside their comfort zone due to fear of acceptance and cultural/language barriers. It is a good school however, nothing extraordinary made it a bad or excellent school.

Walter Johnson high school has an incredibly welcoming community with great teachers, especially in advanced subjects such as AP Biology and AP chemistry; I feel well prepared to dive into my college career thanks to their guidance. WJ also has a wide range of clubs and sports you can participate in; I especially enjoyed being part of the Korean Pop dancing club, where we learned and performed all kinds choreography to celebrate Korean culture (and made new lifelong friends). WJ also has many opportunities for career development. Being able to include a Pharmacy internship as a part of my schedule has really solidified my career interests and professional skills. WJ gives every student the opportunity to reach their full potential.
I've had a decent experience at Walter Johnson. Without being involved in sports or holding the title of the 'popular kid', I joined some of the school's many clubs and advocated for the lack of mental health awareness. I would like to see the school's Sources of Strength program change. While it is supposed to be a suicide and depression awareness program, there is a struggle to reach the students and have a genuine impact on people's lives.
