Walter Johnson provides an academically challenging curriculum for students and does a great job preparing students for college. The teachers have diverse backgrounds and truly care about their students. The administration fosters an environment of caring and respecting the individual. We enjoy the strong community and parent commitment as well.

Our community is ethnically and culturally diverse and students are encouraged to share about their background. In addition we integrate special needs children with a large spectrum of physical and mental disabilities. This teaches the mainstream student population a great deal about tolerance and supporting peers with differences. Both of our daughters have had a great experience, each finding their niche within Suh a large community.

I enjoyed Walter Johnson for their academics and the overall learning experience. Most of my teachers had an expertise in what they were teaching. I also highly appreciated Walter Johnson's efforts when it came to embracing diversity in the midst of national political conflicts. I strongly believe the administration could have done more to make students feel not only physically safe, but also mentally safe. It's very important to make sure every student is feels safe and is not experiencing bullying and/or exclusiveness which has been an issue at Walter Johnson. I would really love to see more positive reenforcement from the administration and staff. I would also love to see the administration listen and consider the voices of every student, because every student counts.
I enjoyed my experience at Walter Johnson High School. There is something for everyone. If you are ambitious and like challenges, there are AP classes available to students starting freshmen year, and many more in the following years. The teachers of AP classes are excellent and motivating. If you are not up to AP, there are honors classes and also regular classes. The counselors are easy to talk to, the administration keeps parents informed about everything that happens at school The college application process is easy and efficient, with students being given a timeline of what needs to be done when, and non-college options are also discussed. Overall, the school aims to help every student succeed.
