I graduated from Walt Whitman High School 2 years ago. Overall it was a good experience, I can say in some way that I enjoyed my time there. The majority of the teachers were great, they were very helpful with the students, and tried to guide and comprehend them. The staff were nice and respectful. However, one thing I can emphasize, is the lack of unity between students and the students of the ENL and Special department. Perhaps there should be more recreational activities between all the students in which the main purpose should be for the students to get to know each other, to understand and tolerate each other’s ideas. High School should be a place where young kids and girls can grow academically and personally to prepare them for their upcoming future, they should be taught that the world is diverse, yet that doesn’t mean they have to isolate themselves for certain groups, they should learn to respect and comprehe every group or culture.

I liked Walt Whitman High School for the involvement and dedication of most of the teachers. It is obvious to see just how dedicated and caring they are about the students’ education. My only problem was with their food options. They were not at all inclusive to many diets (gluten-free, vegetarianism, etc.) and most days I sufficed with only a cup of fruit and bread. Other than that however, I did enjoy this high school experience.
