I love Wakefield because we have changed the scheduling at the school but I wish more courses were offered and that there were more opportunities but I understand it’s a small school.
The teachers make sure to go over the topic through enough that students have the unerstandment that some schools fail to get to with students. There system of getting people in trouble could be changed to made taken a bit more literal instead of them saying no and going on.
The school is pretty good. They offer a lot of clubs. Their food is good but some of th students can be extremely loud.
Wakefield High School is a small school, but has great teachers. There aren't many opportunities, but the education is great. The community is very supportive and Wakefield staff tries to help students as much as possible.
There is no diversity at this school. The people are welcoming. However, their jokes can often be insulting to people with more liberal views. The students and very small town, conservative, and country.
All of the clubs are easy to get into except a few. However, it is a great way to get involved. The clubs and organizations are great leadership opportunities for the students. Student council is one of the most rewarding clubs to join. The only after school activities are sports related. The sports teams are good, but could use some help.
I had a wonderful time attending this school. I made really great friendships and had unique life experiences. The Christmas dinner was my favorite part of attending Wakefield High School, along with the schoolwide secret santa. The school is a very close knitt family envirnoment. However, it can be extremely click-like at times. I would choose Wakefield again because over the years, the people became a second family.
Some of the teachers are extremely passionate about the students and the kind of education they are giving them.
Mr. Freeman, Mr. Keating, Mr. Steppe, Mrs. Hammond, and Ms. Fowler are the best teachers at that school. They push the students to give their best and succeed. They are actively invoved with the students education and character development. The worst is the English department. Your child will gain nothing out of taking English. The teacher is terrible at grading on time and communicating. She does not do a good job of teaching the students. If your child can, have them take Comp I and II their senior year. Other than that the rest of the teaching staff is great.

They now have security checkins outside of the schools doors.
While I did not enjoy all of my time at Wakefield, it taught me to become a more understanding person and to really appreciate the people in my life. I'm a military brat and moved to this school in the 8th grade, my parents did the math and it turned out Wakefield was the 12th school I had attended since the 1st grade. Moving around quite a bit was hard on me and I never realized why that was until I moved here, because I never tried to make friends at my other schools, because I knew I'd just move a way in a year so what would be the point? That's one thing I would never trade or give back and made my expirience worth wild, actually having friends who are always there for you!
I feel that this school is behind on learning. The teachers are teaching students strictly from the books that are 20 years old. There are some teachers who really don't care about grading or developing young minds for the future, they just want to get the day over with and go home. I will have to say there are a few outstanding teachers that Wakefield has acquired, who truely enjoy and are passionate about their jobs.
The clubs at Wakefield High School do not require a very committed schedule due to the understanding that many students are involved in other matters like sports and other extracurricular activities, but in the time the club meetings are held a lot is accomplished in the allotted time.
I will miss going to Wakefield because I do not know if I will ever be able to relive that close, tight-knit experience through any other school.
The food services are okay. I understand that the cafeteria has a budget to meet as well as nutrition criteria to meet, so I try not to complain about the food that is served. I get what I pay for and I am or was a high school kid, so food is food. I am not too picky. I like how the school has recently widened the options of the vegetables and fruits for the daily lunch like fresh strawberries, bananas, and broccoli.
Pretty much the only two problems at Wakefield School are the dress code and punctuality. This has significantly declined in the past year due to a new principal and new policies adopted by the teachers consent. The students at Wakefield do not really engage in bullying due to the traditional kind and friendly nature expected out of the students.
Wakefield High School's second most valued treasure that follows after academics is its sports programs. The sports programs offered at Wakefield are football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track, powerlifting, and cheer. Due to also being in the same district as Clay Center, USD 379 also allows for students to join softball and wrestling through Clay Center. They did allow baseball at one time, but is currently not allowed for an unknown reason. Most of the sports equipment is fairly new. The sports programs at Wakefield are taken very seriously. Each program stresses to maintain good grades and character . During the football season, there is a lot of support from the community, alumni, and the students. From my observation, football is Wakefield's sport that brings everybody closer together and really expresses the meaning of family, hard work, and dedication. Football is the schools main focus, but there is support towards the other programs as well. Through the students, there is a lot of encouragement and promotion for students to join a sport.
Overall the teachers at Wakefield High School do a very good job at making sure students leave their classroom with knowledge. Some of the teachers styles of teaching are more engaging than others due to voice inflections and classroom interactions.
