My experience having gone to Wai'anae High School is something that I will always cherish, and never forget. There were two things that stood out to me--the community and the people.

Being that Wai'anae is considered to be one of more poor, underdeveloped communities, it is the people whom I've gone to school with that rose above the stereotypes and proved the naysayers wrong. There is not one person I know that isn't to be from Wai'anae High School; each and every one of us know that all the odds are against us, and what really made my high school experience memorable was the fact that we carried so much pride and confidence about where we come from, a testament to the notion that we never let anyone else tell us different. We are capable of doing anything we set our mind to!

My overall experience at Wai'anae Highschool is absolutely college ready and diverse, from the people and staff, to the different types of career pathways the school has to offer. Since the Wai'anae community is small, Wai'anae High School is very family-oriented. When there is any football or soccer games, the community is completely opened in supporting every student. The access students have in communication to college readiness is easy and efficient due to the College & Career Center. On the other hand, I do attend the creative media & Broadcasting Journalism program called Searider Productions. This program in particular in our school offers many hands-on activities and projects in regards to the film industry. All in all, Wai'anae High school helps students shoot for their dreams despite their socio-economic background & that's exactly what I'm shooting for!
My experience at Waianae high school was good but also so many other feelings, as you come to Waianae high school you are excited to be in high school because you are close to getting out of school and being in the real world. But you get to meet new people that you may not know at all by playing sports and being a part of clubs there, in your classes. But sometimes you may not like it because of how people are there! But you can’t let that bother you because there are so many other people that are so kind and respectful. They are the people that really cares and wants the best for you. But you need to choose wise on who you are around.
