Waggener was very inclusive. They always gave warm welcomes in the morning and provided everything you needed. One thing I can really point out is the food den they have. It provides all types of free food for the disadvantaged children, ranging from frozen chicken to granola bars!. That was connected to the resource center. It had a different name but they provided all different kinds of resources for students. some I think are neat is gel, brushes, suits and dresses, sweats, umbrellas, water bottles. Just tons of things you might need through the day or school year. They also have many different clubs and programs you can join. There is always a place for somebody.
This school has amazing diversity and several amazing teachers and staff. However, the academics are lacking. The school does offer college courses through Jefferson Community and Technical College and Western Kentucky University. The counselors tend to ignore students in my opinion, and only focus on the seniors. If you are not taking college classes you are not being fully prepared for college or standardized testing.
My experience at Waggener High School was amazing! The students and staff slowly became a family as we excelled to the next grade together. Being on sport's team offered many opportunities to meet and create new bonds with students as well as coaches. The biomedical program opened my eyes to so many professions within the healthcare field.
