Waco Montessori School Reviews
Rating 4.54 out of 5 13 reviews
My 3 children have been at Waco Montessori for the last 7 years. It is a nurturing, yet engaging learning environment. 2 of my children are neurodivergent. The faculty and staff have been helpful, understanding, and kind when it comes to addressing my children’s needs. The teachers expect a lot of my kids - and they are absolutely thriving at WMS. All 3 of my children are reading multiple grade levels above their age. They are all 3 exploring individual interests and learning problem solving skills daily.
As a parent, I feel that the interim Head of School is approachable and honest. She does exactly what she says she will do, and appears to have the full respect and support of the staff. I know a new HOS will be lucky to find such a hardworking team of staff and parents.
The Montessori Method is truly a beautiful approach to education. We are so very happy with WMS and their efforts to provide a true Montessori Environment in Waco.
The athletic program is top notch, too!

There are some wonderful teachers here, especially in the Toddler and Early Childhood programs.
Our experience in the Lower Elementary program was a disaster. My child had nightmares about his teacher. This was a completely lost year academically, and we are grateful to the teachers at his new school who have helped him catch back up.
Sadly, our experience was not unique. Many of our friends have had similar experiences.
Despite our hope that a Montessori curriculum would adapt to children with various learning styles, our observation was the the curriculum was rigid, endlessly repetitive, and abstract. The teachers were rigid as well. Our son was hopelessly bored. He withdrew emotionally and intellectually and completely disengaged. If your child is gifted or neurodiverse in any way, please spare both your child and yourself a year of anguish and look elsewhere for elementary school.

Our daughter's experience at WMS has been amazing! The highly trained teachers truly care about their students and their growth. Graduates are well-prepared for success in Middle School. WMS is a safe environment with an inclusive community that our family is proud to be a part of.
