VIT is a small school where everyone knows everyone. You are in small classes so every student gets enough time with the teachers to ask questions and get the help they need. The overall environment is safe and welcoming. I feel like what could be improved is more class options. I would like it if there was a lot more extracurricular classes that I could take. For example, ASL or AP classes. Overall, VIT’s academics isn’t that great, but they are working on correcting their courses.
I like the small class sizes. But they are not getting utilized. Some teachers could try harder and try something new to teach. All the school cares about is sports. Whenever we have a snow day and a game is not cancelled I think that is unprofessional and they don’t have there priorities straight. They should care about school first and sports second. VIT also doesn’t have a lot to chose from when it comes to activities and clubs. Most of them aren’t fun or you do nothing when you are in them.
I would say that V.I.T is defiantly one of the smaller High Schools in Illinois. Although I love how close everyone one in the school district is there is a struggle for academics when competing with larger schools. AT the moment we are without a science teacher which really brings the rank down in my opinion. There are struggles to afford some of the things that would improve our school, such as not having a track. Over all though, I can not help but love my school for the Staff and people in the district.
