As a student at Vista Murrieta High School, I believe they are a strong school environment that is on the up for increasing student connection and spirit. As we had won Most Spirited School in the Nation the student body and staff continue to strive for success with our motto of CLASS. I'm a leadership student who overall has enjoyed my experience as a Vista Murrieta Bronco. I recommend attending VMHS as they are a great community, have a beautiful campus and amazing staff who are supportive and encouraging of student's success!
I have attended Vista Murrieta High School since I was a freshman and have just completed my junior year. I am not an athlete or band member, which I see people say the school only focuses on. Not true! There is something for everyone here. I have enjoyed being part of CSF and Robotics club. Next year, I'm looking forward to trying out for one of the esports teams. I was just part of the Junior Honor Guard, which celebrates the top 50 juniors in the class. They do so many things like that to make kids feel special here. From teachers through counselors (Mr. Tyler is the best counselor!), they are thoughtful and focused on student success -- even quiet students like me. I will have two certificates from their Career Technical programs, including an engineering certificate and IT certificate. These are more tools that will help me stand out when I apply for colleges and have provided me with skills and education I couldn't get at another school. It's been a great experience!
Arts
A large portion of the arts and music program is underfunded. I believe that the majority of our arts funds go to the drama and band programs, because those are the only portions that make a profit here on campus. Therefore, the general music and art departments are underfunded.
Academics
My experience with general education teachers has been very underwhelming. A lot of teachers, particularly in the History department, are coaches, and therefore, do not put in a healthy effort to providing a good education. Most of their time and effort goes into coaching, which neglects the education of hundreds of students that they teach.
That being said, the AP courses are wonderful, and I believe that every student should take advantage of the great opportunity given to us with AP courses.
Not much can be said about on-campus Dual Enrollment. Cheating runs rampant and teachers do nothing to stop it. I have generally found that Dual Enrollment teachers care far less about students.
