As a parent and employee of the District, I had two children who attended Vintage High School. My older son graduated in 2012, and my younger will be graduating in 2020. I saw the demographic shift from the construction of American Canyon High School, which pulled a lot of troublesome kids away from Vintage. The student body became smaller and more ethnically homogeneous (Caucasian/Hispanic) around 2013/14. When they re-drew the attendance boundaries, they actually siphoned many of the wealthier areas of Napa, which tipped the socio-economic balance between Napa and Vintage. Napa High has significantly more economically disadvantaged students now in comparison (nearly 52 percent, to Vintage's 28 percent), which I believe is why Vintage had more college resources to offer my two sons. Vintage high is not very cliquey, and it seems most students have many diverse friend groups (academics, athletics, and theatre- type students).
I truly believe that Vintage High School provides an amazing education for all ranges of students. It has many resources, clubs, and an amazing range of classes and electives for all students; whether they're interested in cooking, arts, college prep, etc. Every single teacher that I have had so far in my three years has been very passionate about their subjects and very willing to go the extra mile to make sure that their students succeed. We many AP, or college classes, that students can take right on campus, with qualified teachers. We also have something called RTI, which is extremely helpful. Through the time that is blocked for it, students are able to get help from teachers in classes they are struggling with, or just have extra time to get homework done. I also truly enjoy the dynamic, interesting, curious students that surround me in all of my classes, and I have had the privilege of making many friends as a result of the friendly atmospheres of my classes.
