If you’re black or POC don’t expect to feel welcomed here. Viewpoint does a lot of suck-up and lip-talking about “diversity” and “inclusion” when there is nothing of the sort. The academics are extremely competitive if you are switching from a regular school or haven’t been there since middle school. Entering as a freshman it was very hard for me to keep up and the history teacher taught like a college professor. This school “prepares” you for college but also prepare yourself to be sucked into school and stripped of your social life if you don’t have deep pockets. The food is great but overly expensive. Beware that ala handful of the faculty is racist. If you are an artist or dancer beware that their program is selective based on skill and not improvement of the student. This is heavy with the dance program, you’re taught to be on stage but not to improve as a dancer! Anyways, this school has heavy problems with diversity and many students are homophobic and racist. Neve again.
I've attended Viewpoint since kindergarten and so has my sister. My mom also works here. All and all it has been a positive experience. The teachers are all great for the most part and the academic opportunities are incredible. Any student who gets the opportunity to attend a school where so much time and effort is focused on you and your ability to succeed would be lucky. My only complaint is that some of the people who attend this school aren't top tier. A lot of them don't care about academics and barely have to try to get into college because they have a lot of money. And they act this way also. I'd say the demographic is about 50/50 of students who put in a lot of effort and students who couldn't care less and just are genuinely unkind people. Anyone who isn't your typical "Calabasas baby" probably won't fit in. I'm not saying you won't find your people, but options are limited. But there are definitly a solid group of students who actually want to be there and are successful.
We have three children at Viewpoint in the middle and high school. Each one of our children has thrived at the school. They have participated in sports every season, the music program and have accelerated academically. The culture at the school is accepting and loving while also expecting a lot out of the students. The teachers and administration respond immediately to concerns. The campus is beautiful and extremely safe. It is nestled in the canyon and in a great location that feels more secluded.
