Veterans Memorial High School Reviews
Rating 4.31 out of 5 90 reviews
Out of all the high schools in the Corpus Christi Independent school district, this one is the best! All of the staff are very welcoming and have a lot of pride in the work they are doing and show a strong passion for the students. Veterans Memorial also has many great programs to get involved with including the award winning band and choir and the many outstanding sports programs who often see great success. Veterans also offers opportunities such as welding and firefighting for those who are looking for a job immediately after high school.
Veterans memorial is an amazing school that has great teachers and administrators. Our principal is very involved in the activities of students and teachers. Our principal tries to support and help out any clubs who ask for help by giving them funds for competition and such. Veterans Memorial High School has implemented Power Hour, in which students have the opportunity to do whatever they want for an hour. Students could use this time to be in tutoring, participate in clubs, or do some of their homework. The teachers are all very nice and teach passionately on their subjects. This leads to a better learning environment because the students are able to easily ask the teacher if they have any questions without feeling any embarrassment. For any changes in Veterans Memorial High School is the way the ranking works in Veterans Memorial High School.
Despite my high school years being interrupted by the Corona Virus, I still had a rather enjoyable time there. I can’t say that I didn't have any complaints about some of my teachers, but in the end, I’d have to say I just about loved all my teachers at Veterans Memorial High School. The teachers pushed us to do better and not accept the bare minimum, which has helped me in college now. The arts program is lovely as well. I had the pleasure of being a student under Dr. Leonel Monsivais, who guided me in my sculpting passion. I joined the color guard my Sophomore year and became Captain my Senior year. The band program is an experience that will be missed since I graduated. I was taught leadership, discipline, and teamwork under the band directors Shawn Athey, Eric Lara, and Lauren Getz. Overall, my high school experience taught me valuable skills and lessons, which have become resources for me as I progress through my college experience.
