It has been a great and unique journey! I recommend "Verb" to anyone looking for a safe environment to send your child to learn. It has a unique work-study program that lets students work in a corporate environment. This makes the Verb different from the majority of Catholic schools. This is a great school that has various trips, clubs, sports, and programs tailored for students who attend. Verbum Dei encourages students to find their passion and helps them through rigorous journeys of excellence for their future. This prepares students for college and it is a very good system that works. Overall, Verbum Dei High school is the best choice I have made and the only thing I would change is the lunch line. It is a long wait.
My time at this school has been amazing. Not only do they offer rigorous courses to help prep for college but they’re courses also go far beyond just reading out of a textbook. They teach the students how the material they’re learning relates back to daily life and how they can “light the world on fire”. This school is also the only school in Los Angeles that offers a Corporate Work Study Program that allows student to not only help pay for their education, but also gain experience from working in a corporate office, that ranges from law firms all the way to companies like Crisp Imaging, Latham & Watkins(a world renowned law firm), Herbalife, and many more! Have a strong brotherhood and would truly recommend to anyone.
My Jesuit education has shaped me and prepared me for a life after high school through the rigorous coursework at Verbum Dei, my sports participation, extracurricular involvement, and internship at Latham & Watkins through the corporate work study program. The academic rigor coupled with my extracurricular involvement has taught me the skill of time management. To be able to manage my time efficiently to complete various assignments in a timely manner. Prior to my education I wasn’t aware of the injustices in my community. I assumed everything was normal.
