One of my favorite things about Ventura High School is the teachers. Every math and science teacher I've had cares about their students inside and outside of the classroom, and has contributed greatly to my decision to choose a STEM major. Another aspect that has had a major impact on my experience at Ventura High School is the music department. The music department at Ventura High School is the only one on the West Coast that has competed in the Grand National Adjudicator's Invitational in the last 20 years. The music department has also given me the opportunity to learn about leadership and challenging myself beyond my current ability.

Ventura High is an excellent school where everyone belong. VHS offers many clubs, activities and extra programs that help students connect to the school. I enjoyed Cross Country, Basketball, Track and Field and Powderpuff during my four years. I also participated in several service clubs. I took several AP and honors classes that were challenging and pushed me to work hard and be my best. I was fortunate to have wonderful teachers who provided many opportunities to challenge myself. My teachers were always available to help me when needed and many of my teachers came and saw me compete on the playing field. As I move on I am going to miss my teachers, but I plan to stay in touch with them. Not surprisingly my favorite thing about VHS were my coaches and teammates. From my first practice to my last I felt like I belonged and I felt like part of a family. My coaches guided and pushed me to be my best. I believe what I learned from my coaches will serve me well in life.
My overall experience at this school was good. I transferred here my junior year and immediately liked the environment better than the last school I attended. I have had some great teachers and felt I have done better academically. One change I would like to see in this school is the math department, as I feel it is not engaging and I feel that there are not many teachers who are willing to fully teach the material.
