My experience at Varina High School was an pretty good one. I had days, weeks, months, and tears were I didn't want to go there because of situations. Varina definitely have teachers that oushes you to succeed and pushes you to do you best because they believe in you and know what you capable of. I would only change a few thing about Varina and that's, How they handle certain situations and the lunches. They handle some situations way different which caught people's eyes because we thought it was unfair. I'll also switch the lunches because they usually serve the same thing every other week and people definitely get tired of it. All around it isn't a bad school or anything I'll say it's more of the children fault and the teachers do they jobs. Anyways, beside those minor things I would definitely recommend Varina High School to others that would love to experience what's it's like to be a Blue Devil.

I was originally supposed to attend another high school in Richmond, however, I was accepted into the Center for Communications at Varina High School. That was my best decision by far! The center teachers were great and they genuinely cared about your education. There were times that I messed up and they were on me just like they were all my parents. I appreciated that so much because all they wanted was to see me succeed. We were more than students, we were family. As far as the teachers outside of the Center, the ones I had were alright. However, I really can't say much because the majority of my classes were in the Center with the same few teachers. I had no problems with Varina in general, nothing but good experiences!
I enjoyed and appreciated my time while at Varina High School because of the Center for Communications and Media Relations. I have mentors that help through every difficulty and hardship of high school. Varina High School can do better on mental health awareness because this generation suffers because of it. Personally, I have anxiety and depression and I go to counseling, so juggling school, work, and extra curricular activities can be difficult. I believe there should be a built in time for students to be able to disconnect from the school environment, and connect with real issues that is occurring.
