It’s a school that has issues keeping faculty and our sports activity facilities need updated and expanded. However, they do pretty well with what they’re given.
My experience growing up in a very small school district was fun and kept me active in group activity, clubs, and my education. Van Far high school is a small school, so all the teachers know your name and always check up on you to make sure you’re grades as well as your mentality was okay! Which I love the most.
I think the teachers do the best they can with what they have. They need to be putting more money into our education. We have trouble getting enough textbooks because they are "too expensive". The students are deprived of a proper education through the school district. I believe this school would be a lot better if we focused more on the education of the students.
More parents need to get involved in activities and be around more to support the school.
Some teachers put a load of homework on us and others dont do what they are suppose to and we have to figure out things on our own. Some things said outside the classrooms like in sports are inappropriate and a coach shouldnt say those things to teenagers.
Most students are involved in either FFA, FCCLA, or FBLA, because that's the majority of the clubs. Either students aren't motivated enough to create their own clubs, or they cannot find a sponsor because the teachers are already a club leader or coach, or just because they don't want to be responsible for the club.
The building is up to date and very nice.
I'm a pretty good student. I feel that if you put in the effort to make the grade, you'll make it.
I loved all my teachers. They always acted like they really cared.
I always felt pretty safe here.
Everyone was pretty accepting. Most of us grew up together from kindergarten to senior year.
I never felt prepared for college.
All the food is pretty unhealthy. I took a sack lunch.
I always liked the weight room.
There are a few teachers who are not always effective with their lessons, or teaching methods, but a majority are wonderful. They help their students before and after school, are usually available for one-on-one help, and have positive attitudes.
We aren't allowed to wear flip-flop thongs because they think they will break or make us trip up. For the bullying, we have assemblies about it but they still have not cured it in three years.
My school has at least one Anti-Bullying assembly every year, yet it does not seem to change anything. A girl was brand new to our school, and on her very first day, other girls were already calling her "whore" and "slut". With the security cameras around, and the school calling in drug dogs if they feel the need, I feel slightly safer but not fully. They cannot catch everything on camera, and sometimes suspension does not stop a bully.
