The high school in Van Buren is decent, but only average at best. Some teachers care, some dont, and truthfully the education is lacking compared to other schools in our state. Although, it seems like they are trying to improve that. Rule enforcement is fair but the environment in the school made by the students says otherwise. Attention to *all* students opinions is rare and is otherwise dictated by the authority in the school usually. They are trying to improve on that too though. Overall, if you're self-reliant you'll do fine.
Van Buren High School will give any student the good experience they expect during high school. What I like is there are multiple programs that students can take part in, multiple times throughout the year to practice the ACT and SAT, a good sense of parental involvement when it comes to project graduation, and more. They have a really good music program, band and choir. They have a good sports program, the team goes back and forth between really good and really bad, haha. The school is not too big and not to small to where each student can have his/her own set of inner friends, while still collaborate and hang out with other students.
One good thing I will say about Van Buren High School is that there is no shortage of opporatunities. There are so many different clubs to choose from, that can really open doors for you. As a student you are given many opporatunities to excell in your academics and Ive seen some people graduate well on there way to already completing a degree. That is due not only to their hardwork but also the help and guidance of the counselors and teachers. For the most part, the teachers really care about you and with that many people helping you, high school isnt so bleak. There is nothing that I can think of that needs to be changed, but like everything there is always room for improvement.
