Academics were disappointing, teachers & admin are uninvolved, virtually zero communication from teachers. Rarely homework and no expectations from teachers that kids actually do any work that requires effort or time. "GT" classes are in no way academic or educational. Basically just social hour for kids with high test scores. Absolutely no structure, & no teaching takes place. Math was awful. Teacher does a 7 minute "lesson" video kids watch on their own, then during class time kids are given free time to do whatever.
Complete waste of time unless you are looking to enable students to be lazy and unprepared.
It worries me to think of how behind & unprepared kids will be after 2-3 years at Valley. They are treated like spoiled babies! When I went to conferences my son's teacher asked why I was there??! I guess they only find it necessary to talk to parents when kids are behind or struggling. If you are looking for rigor or academic strength- Do NOT send you kids to VMS.

Very fun! I had some great memories and most teachers are great! The gifted program is quite excellent and so is the drama club. There are so many people that inspire me, and even though there are some people who get in fights or are mean and disrespectful, we all get along as a community.
when i went to valley middle, there was a small group of kids that would cause trouble in my grade, then the staff would punish the whole grade because of their behavior. i had many amazing teachers at valley, but also some terrible. one of my teachers had some bad anger issues and would break stuff to get our attention. the dress code is also very sexist and targets and sexualizes the female students.
