Vallejo High School is a pretty decent place to recieve your high school education. There are tons of different cultures just mixing together, it's a great place to meet new people. The teachers on the other hand, don't always seem like they care, or if they even know what they're doing. There are teachers who don't use the gradebook, who never grade, who give impossible assignments, who just run through topics without letting us students fully grasp the concept, etc. This year I took the AP Calc course because I loved Pre-Calc and the teacher who taught it. This year, with the same teacher, the whole class has D's or below. The teacher runs through each concept and doesn't explain anything quite well, and after a while, she laughs when she sees people struggling. She doesn't care to help when we need it, only when we don't. Which basically sums up a majority of the teachers at the school.

Vallejo High School is one of those schools that isn't a bad school but needs a whole new system to improve it. More resources for college readiness should be given. The drop out rate is really high. There are always behavioral issues within classrooms, fights every other week and occasional instances where drugs being taken have resulted in the ambulance being called. The food sucks big time it taste like I'm assuming concentration camp or prison food! Campus is a huge size about 1200-1500 students and really diverse. Don't get me wrong some teachers are great and really care abut the kids future but the school as a whole needs new and improved staffing in order to elevate.
The best thing about Vallejo high is the sports programs and the schools history. Vallejo high has a history in its athletics which gives the school a great amount of pride. As well as the overall 150 years the schools been open gives the students a feeling that they are apart of history in the making everyday. Although, the school has faced many problems throughout the last 4 years . For instance , the districts budget cuts have reduced the number of staff in our school closing career academies and laying off counselors. This doesn’t allow the counseling staff to properly guide students on the right track for college. Also due to the cities violent nature many teachers have left in the middle of the year leaving students with no teacher.
