Being a student in Valhalla high school has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Valhalla high school has amazing, helpful teachers. In other words, the staff members care for their students and make sure that they are doing well. The school has taught me many things I’ve never heard of before and helped me find my passion for joining the medical-pathway. They have many opportunities for experiences such as clubs. The clubs are very fun and educating. Valhalla high school was not my only high-school I’ve been to since I wasn’t living around the area before, but joining the school was like a blessing! Something different about the school is that they have a day called “Odin’s day.” It is around the first to second week of school, where everyone dresses in orange clothing and freshman go to touch the mascot as a welcoming. This also includes seniors touching the mascot for the last time on their graduation day as a goodbye.
As a student at Valhalla High School, my experience has been a mix of ups and downs. The best parts include diverse extracurricular activities, fostering friendships, and personal growth. Dedicated teachers create engaging learning environments. However, the overwhelming workload and academic pressure, limited resources, and crowded classrooms pose challenges. I hope for increased focus on student well-being, with programs addressing mental health and stress management. Additional funding for extracurricular activities and the arts would enhance creativity and personal development. Valhalla High School can improve by addressing these concerns for a better overall experience.
As an upcoming senior at this school, one thing I will miss is the yearly tradition of celebrating Odins to welcome the new staff and incoming Freshmen as they touch the hammer for the first time commencing their journey for the next four years as part of the Orange Nation. This is one of the most memorable moments I have from this school as I would gather up with my friends in sparkling orange and white attire screaming at the top of our lungs to show our school spirit while looking up at the infamous rainbow arch. On top of the yearly tradition, this school encourages me each and every day to be the best student I could be as the school values its academic achievements offering great academic opportunities for overachievers with a wide range of AP and dual enrollment classes to get a head start on college credits. With staff and teachers open to building friendships with the students, I am proud to be part of the Orange Nation and hope that future students enjoy it as much as I do.
