Hello, I am currently a student at Valencia High School and I am here to rate rate with complete authenticity. For my main point I believe that this school can exceed a student's expectations as the school provides an exceptional source of education. Quoted from the "PYLUSD Advantage," the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District's schools have consistently earned the "reputation for providing outstanding educational opportunities for our students." Of course, going by this statement, VHS provides each and every student with many educational opportunities to help them achieve their goals. Being said, as long as a student is constantly driven towards their precious goals, Valencia High School can guarantee a student's dreams to come true. All in all, Valencia is a perfect school for any child's success. Valencia High School serves as a nurturing home for numerous ambitious and accomplished students, thanks to its passionate teachers, dedicated students, and supportive community.
Valencia High School has excellent academic programs in IB, Val Tech, and Cambridge that prepare its students for success. Also, they have great counselors who help students change their academic schedules and get into one of their dream colleges based on their interests. A unique aspect of VHS is that the school did not focus too much on cliques, where everyone felt comfortable hanging out with their group based on shared interests and experiences without being judged or alienated. However, some of the teachers in Valencia High School, particularly in the IB/Tech program, rush their students in their learning without structure and guidance. As a result, it makes it less exciting and motivating for students to love learning in their classes, where they primarily want to get good grades to get into good colleges through various acts of academic dishonesty. In addition, the quality of cafeteria food and bathrooms could be better, and the gates make the campus a deprived environment.
Valencia High School offers a strong community with dedicated staff, many of whom are alumni. Prestigious academic programs such as IB and Cambridge, competent athletic programs, and successful college readiness opportunities are major highlights. However, there's a social divide and a clear socioeconomic gap among students in different academic programs. Moreover, the school's architecture is outdated which lowers student morale, and some teachers lack competence to teach advanced classes such as IB HL Economics. However, I am very proud to state that I have graduated with an IB Diploma from Valencia High School due to its reputation for excellence.
