From Vail Mountain School

Vail Mountain School is a K-12, coed, independent day school in Vail, Colorado that offers a rigorous, college preparatory education to day students and international students hosted by local homestay families. VMS is located 100 miles west of Denver and takes full advantage of our location in the Rocky Mountains by integrating outdoor education opportunities. Our program is enriched by ample opportunities for cross-age interaction, service learning and robust athletics.

To achieve this goal, faculty at VMS are singularly focused on one thing--your child. They bring their passions into the classroom and develop deep, caring relationships that inspire a true love of learning. Our teachers pay close attention to the social, emotional and academic needs of each individual, adapting curricula and lessons that fuel the fire more than fill the bucket. Put simply, a good school knows your child by name, a great school knows your child by heart.

My daughter has attended Vail Mountain School for 4th, 5th and 6th. I simply cannot say enough positive things about it. The core values at VMS (Character, Knowledge and Community) are exhibited every day from the dedicated and caring professionals. VMS is innovative, forward thinking and responsive. Professional development is noticeably encouraged as the educators are constantly bringing in new ideas to challenge and expand the horizons of our children. The educators at VMS make it a top priority to create a sense of camaraderie among the students leading to a more positive environment with something for everyone. When the COVID-19 pandemic created a massive shift in the way we all live our lives, VMS was at the forefront of transitioning each family to distance learning and they have been extremely willing to adapt and adjust based on the needs of the students and the parents. Needless to say, I’m proud to be a VMS parent!

Our children look forward to going to Vail Mountain School almost every day! and that is the biggest testament to a schools excellence. They form a close relationship with all of their teachers that really encourage the strengths and fosters the development of each individual child. The electives they are able to choose from in Middle School is broad and boosts their interests. I have seen our children grow into open-minded, independent, community based, caring individuals with the support of VMS.
Vail Mountain School is the best educational institution that I have been to thus far. The Vail Mountain School curriculum is extremely rigorous, with a heavy emphasis on collaborative emotional intelligence at almost every step of the curriculum. In addition, the wonderful staff and educators are available to guide and encourage students to strive for success, excellence, happiness, and most importantly, mindfulness. In my experience, the educators at Vail Mountain School are more than just teachers, they are mentors who do an excellent job in addressing each student to their personal needs inside and outside of the classroom. The culture at Vail Mountain School creates an environment where students become leaders of their community, and students gain the confidence required to speak their mind. All these factors contribute to a truly holistic experience that prepares students to think critically, be open minded, be caring, and be confident going forward into college and beyond.
