Utah Online School allows you to have a flexible school schedule and has been nice to do over the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. I am allowed to work either fast paced or slower paced if I want, but if you get ahead on assignments, it helps you so much more. I've been able to meet other students virtually with diverse backgrounds, all of my peers live all over Utah and the teachers are really helpful. My instructors will quickly answer or reply to any of your emails or questions that you may have. I would recommend Utah Online for any High or Middle School student and even for Elementary students. Though it's online, I still feel like you get social interactions and sometimes Utah Online does field trips for all ages K-12. It's a fun and enjoyable experience and it can be just as fun as being in a classroom.
Impressive school! Our kids were in K,1,2,3, and 4 so far. Both accelerated in math. The youngest needed extra help reading. Teacher met her each week 1:1, to demo advanced teaching ideas to her learning coach.
But, students lack interaction with each other. On field trips, families don't reach out to make friends. Teachers should assign pods of 4-5 students to have a short video chat sessions each week. Collaboration could help kids build cooperation, empathy, and diversity lacking in online environment.

My son's math abilities are/were exceptional but he wasn't motivated to read. In 1st grade in Bountiful UT, he was bored with math and scared to read... and they kicked him to the curb. I have a MS and doctorate and was in Utah for a post-doc fellowship at U of U. I met my wife when she was in law school ... so education is IMPORTANT to us!! This wasn't going to work. We pulled him from traditional school and moved him to UT online for 2nd grade. BEST thing we ever did. They helped us get him back on track. In 5th grade, when we put him back in public school in another state, he was a model student and blew the teachers' minds. He was reading at a 12th grade level and a year later he went 5 grading periods without missing a single point in math and science. There are LOTS of bright kids out there, yours may be smarter than mine ... BUT quality educators make the difference between kids excelling or falling to the side. I can't say enough good things about UT online.
