I really liked going to an all-girls school because it really empowered us and made us more confident and crazy when there was no pressure to act a certain way around guys. That being said, sometimes I feel like the administration missed invaluable opportunities to address very relevant issues like the #MeToo movement. The teachers are amazing, and the other girls are great. One thing, though, was the amount of stress that we all put on ourselves, although you'd be hard pressed to find a high school where this doesn't happen. I will admit that some girls were very unhappy because of this stress. This school has a lot of wonderful traditions, which is something that you won't find at many other high schools, like intramurals, community service, and freshman dance. I wouldn't change anything!

Ursuline Academy of Dallas is an all--girls school in Dallas. When someone asks me of my school, I proudly respond "Ursuline." Something I love about Ursuline is its mission "Serviam" which means to serve. Everything the girls do corresponds with helping others. It implements the idea that these girls are leaders who don't live for themselves but for others. These girls hope one day to better others' quality of life. Some people think attending an all-girls school is depressing, strict, and boring. However, frankly that is false. The environment is welcoming, and not having boys around allows girls to embrace their identities aside from boys. Ursuline teaches that you aren't just your husband's maid or your boss's assistant. Instead, you are a leader and a strong independent individual who can not only raise a family but also lead a conference.
This year is my first year at Ursuline Academy as I am a transfer student transferring from Colleyville Heritage High School (a public school in the suburbs 45 minutes from Dallas). My experience has been very good so far. It differs from my public high school experience as it’s a lot more competitive here, the teachers are more experienced and qualified, and I am learning a lot more (but also am studying SO much more; which is good). All the departments are amazing and advanced, especially the English department as I’ve learned more about grammar and literature than I ever had before. This has to be one of the best schools in Dallas. I am giving it a 4/5 because the food is mediocre and not as good as I would’ve expected it to be and because at times it’s untidy in certain areas.
