At first I didnt want to attend, because it was going to be all boys. But come to find out, it wasnt so bad. Us wearing a blazer & tie & dress shoes brings significants to our lives especially as young black men. Urban prep/the teachers & staff taught me how to become a better man.
Urban Prep Academy gave me the ability to reach my goal into becoming a college student. They mentored young men into becoming role models. Overall, with the help of everyone at Urban Prep Academy they showed me the way to becoming a successful black man.
Urban Prep was an awesome school for me, I played on the football team the four years I attended. The staff there was awesome they really assisted me with choosing the best college for me I recommend any young man to attend this school it's great for it's academics and keeping the young men off the streets and very well engaged in after school activities. Urban has prepared me for the college life and prepared me for the next steps that awaits me. I want to thank the administrative staff for all the effort they put towards this next step I that I am getting ready to embark myself in, thank you to all the staff and teachers, I am glad this was the school I choose.

My experience wasn't that good. I like the fact that Urban Prep gets everyone accepted into college but we still need scholarship opportunities.
Urban prep is most known for the bond between the students and teachers. I honestly took advantage of this having a lot of friends among other thing. The only thing I would change would be the school getting a hold of better food for lunch.
Its a good name branded school and does what it says it will do for its students. since my freshman year i have been out alot doing things for the school but it lacks other outtings that we should take, but we dont.
What I like about Urban Prep- South Shore High School is that the campus has moved to Bronzeville, so it is now Urban Prep- Bronzeville campus. The friendships and connections you make is a huge part of the experience. What I would love to see change is the staff; the staff is increased security, somewhat, but has not been able to employ teachers suitable to actually teach the young men.
My experience with with Urban Prep was wonderful. It's a college prep high school for all young black males in the city of Chicago. There entire mission statement was getting there students enrolled into college. The school also had a creed (We Believe). The school was rough for the first year. I was getting used to the environment around me. The students were great, after everyone got to know each other of the course of years. It created a strong brotherhood connection. The teachers were phenomenal. They were like family memebers. They called us and we could call them for anything. It could be 3 in the morning, and they would wake up and listen. When I couldn't get support at home, I knew I could talk to multiple teachers. Even though the school is amazing, they still need improvement. They need to have more resouces. They also need to have steady and stable teachers. The teachers were great, but ended up leaving. Lastly, the school need to have more after school programs.
Overall, I had an average experience. I enjoyed some of the time, but this school needs more resources. I believe this school has a lot of potential, but do not have enough resources to give the best of its ability.
At Urban Prep Bronzeville there are a total of 9 class periods for each student everyday. The school offers regular core classes like every CPS school. We start at 8:30 am and dismissed at 4:30 pm every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday but on Wednesdays students are dismissed at 2:00 pm.
Urban Prep is an okay school because the school doesn't really focus on teaching young men how to prepare for college and the real world.
I am not really sure about the school health programs because I was never in a situation at the school that I needed a nurse.
At the school some students like to participate in extracurricular activities but is not 100% committed to the program.
Urban Prep is a good school for kids that want to learn.
The teachers at Urban Prep Bronzeville Campus are great.
I love it. High school has been the best time of my life. I would do it again, but maybe not the same exact way.
They Are very productive, and they are good at what they do.
