Upson Lee High School provides mediocre academic preparation for the real world, let alone community college or state universities. The CCRPI scores are manipulated by only offering standard curriculum classes to "honors" tract students. "Honors" tract students at ULHS would be average ed pupils at any other high school in their RESA. A pitiful few students take the SAT, hardly any break a score of 1000. The teachers are good people and try their best, but are hamstrung by the lenient and questionable policies handed down by administration. If you live in this district, pay VERY close attention to your child's academics.
I like all the activities my high school tries to incorporate so that kids with different experiences and pleasures can get involved. For example, they have created clubs for students who like to play video games. However, I would like for in the future for my school to try to incorporate Hispanics more because coming from a different background it can be hard to involve yourself in activities you are not used to doing at home. I think it would be very beneficial if there was a Latino Club or even more opportunities for us to get involved in.
Upson-Lee Highschool has adequate staff and an effective curriculum. I enjoy going to this school for the most part.I would like to see their dress code change. It is targeted specifically to girls and the boys do not get in trouble for it ever. Girls should be allowed to wear what they want as long as they are covered enough to make themselves feel comfortable. If boys can wear tank tops and lounge shorts, then girls should be able to as well. I feel that the school is a tad bit sexist in the aspect. There aren't many teachers who care to make sure each student is understanding lessons, but the ones that do care are the best teachers you will come to know. Overall, Upson High is a good school.I do feel that boys get away with more than the girls do in this particular establishment. That needs to change.
