I am a incoming freshman and I attended 7th and 8th grade at UPA. My experience with the teachers and staff was very good. My teachers always made me feel like my education was important and they always did their best at teaching the material. Every single administrator within this school cares about their students, and I can promise you that. The only issue I have is with the high stress culture surrounding academics. UPA students are high achievers, but many should learn that getting higher grades than your classmates is not the most important thing. I hope that toxic aspect of UPA's environment changes!

What I like about University Preparatory Academy (UPA), is the dedication the teachers have. Teachers, councilors, the admins of UPA have certain goals they want to reach with their students and they care for each one significantly. They want to see their students thrive and better themselves and their future using their education as a ticket way in. I have never been pushed to thrive, achieve, or even care for my own education before coming to UPA and that is something I know will follow me where ever I go for the rest of my life!
UPA is a great academic school that helps students prepare for college as early as seventh grade. Although the school is great in its teaching, the school lacks most high school activities and sports, such as Friday night football games. Because of the highly academic environment, UPA is extremely competitive amongst students, which leads to the competition of having better grades and not learning for the sake of knowledge. What I would like to see at my school in the upcoming years, is better teacher retention rates and for students to enjoy their studies and learning, without the stress of achieving the best possible grade.
