Great teachers and small classes. Really get what you put into it, as with anything. The campus is relatively small and student culture needs to be more prevalent. The school has an abundance of great resources and allows all to use them. Facilities are relatively clean but housing needs updates and renovations. As a STEM student, one can appreciate the support the University puts into the lab facilities and classrooms. Most is up to date and shows little to no signs of abuse or deterioration (though the older buildings are quite dated.) Known primarily as an Arts and Music school, the campus is inviting and always a pleasure to traverse. Academically, the classes are usually small and intimate with teacher-student relationships being the keystone to getting the most out of your education here.
I love the atmosphere the school offers whether thats talking to the students, faculty, anyone in general. Something I would change is being more connected. I feel as though even if we are all in the same room or talking, there isn't really much of a connecting interaction that I would like to see.
Our son has been attending this school for the past four years. What the school did for our son is nothing short of a miracle. Before UHMS, he was going from school to school looking for the right one for him. We finally found him a home at UHMS. The school was an eye opener for us. They taught us that a school environment can make all the difference in a child's development. He was diagnosed with ADHD when he was very young. From the first day he started school, they took amazing care of him. As parents, we know how difficult it is to manage a child like my son. Every one at school was very patient and understanding. They worked very hard to bridge the gap so that he can be where he is today. My son is now excelling academically.
We would like to thank Principal Tim Barber and the entire UHMS team.
