Academics are incredibly strong. Most students are motivated and excited to attend college. School spirit is electric on Field Days and other events, such as homecoming. Most of the teachers are wonderful and go the extra mile for students. Small school allows for more teacher attention and extra help, but students tend to struggle socially as they grow older. Save for heaps of exchange students who stick to themselves, the student body is not racially diverse. It is certainly not economically diverse, either, and students are not often exposed to differing world views. Technology is an obvious weakness; the “Bring Your Own Device” program is a gross demonstration of socioeconomic discrimination, and the technology person is a grumpy old man who offers no help to students.

University Lake School is an amazing school that will help you feel completely prepared for college. The teachers are enthusiastic and love what they do. The curriculum can be difficult and you will definitely be challenged. The campus is beautiful with 180 acres of land filled with beautiful trails. The students provide a close-nit community with an accepting atmosphere. It is not difficult to find your place, even though there are so little students.
I love ULS and have loved my time spent there. The students are very friendly and comfortable to be around. Most of the teachers are very friendly and always willing to help. The academics are great, but the art program is seriously lacking. Overall, I was happy I went there but some things could improve.
