ULS is the perfect fit for our son! He is receiving an amazing personalized learning experience, with teachers that really know him. They encourage him to pursue his interests and challenge him to grow as an entire person. The focus on communication and presentation skills is second to none. He wakes up excited to go to school each day. We are so thankful to be part of this wonderful school community!

Academics are incredibly strong. Most students are motivated and excited to attend college. School spirit is electric on Field Days and other events, such as homecoming. Most of the teachers are wonderful and go the extra mile for students. Small school allows for more teacher attention and extra help, but students tend to struggle socially as they grow older. Save for heaps of exchange students who stick to themselves, the student body is not racially diverse. It is certainly not economically diverse, either, and students are not often exposed to differing world views. Technology is an obvious weakness; the “Bring Your Own Device” program is a gross demonstration of socioeconomic discrimination, and the technology person is a grumpy old man who offers no help to students.
Nice that teachers know who you are and most are able to give well written personal college recommendations. Prepares students for college a little bit more than most schools, but they tend to know very little about scholarship opportunities due to economic demographics. Socially, it's very nice because there are no cliches and most people get along pretty well. Need to improve diversity among student body and need to be more transparent with their communication with students and parents.
